About Us
Our mission is to increase access to math support and enrichment for Teton County youth in grades K-12.

Elevate Math Wyoming was formed in February 2025 to support our local schools and community partners in providing math support and enrichment services to Teton County youth.
Elevate Math Wyoming currently operates under the fiscal sponsorship of Wyoming Stargazing. Donations to our efforts are tax deductible.
The Issues
Teton County, Wyoming suffers from a lack of equitable resources to support math education both in and out of the classroom. Yearly testing reveals consistently lower math performance scores for underserved students across all grade levels when compared to the rest of the Teton County School District (TCSD) student population. 6th grade math performance scores for all TCSD students also severely lag behind other, large Wyoming districts. Unfortunately, with market tutoring rates being upwards of $150/hr, most students seeking additional math support are priced out of the local support network.
Furthermore, the non-profit community and TCSD have highlighted a critical gap in math support and enrichment services at the elementary level. Achievement in elementary math serves a strong predictor of later academic and career success, yet there are no free, after-school options for K-12 math support and enrichment in Teton County.
At the other end of the spectrum, options for high-performing and gifted students to accelerate and access math enrichment services are also limited. TCSD offers several acceleration pathways to eligible students, yet all require significant, independent summer preparation work, with no school-funded support offered to rising 6th graders who have the first opportunity to accelerate. This process disadvantages underserved students, decreasing their likelihood of later being placed in advanced and AP math classes in high school. Further, high performing students needing additional support in advanced math classes face the same financial challenges that accompany market rate tutoring support.
With public education constantly at risk, leveraging community systems and resources represents an effective method to address these significant needs.

Our Goals
MATH SUPPORT AND ENRICHMENT FOR ALL
ROBUST ELEMENTARY PROGRAMMING
COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND MENTORSHIP
Our Approach
Elevate Math Wyoming aims to address the local need for additional math intervention support and enrichment by leveraging the skills of private math tutors, volunteers, mentors and a collaboration with the Teton County School District to provide effective and equitable math support both in and out of the classroom. We are currently fundraising to support the following proposed programming, with launch dates in October 2025:
Elevate Math Wyoming will train and support math tutors to offer targeted, 1-on-1 tutoring services for students in need and seeking additional support at all grade and ability levels, while also offering in-class math support in the highest needs math classrooms at the local, public TCSD middle and high schools.
Elevate Math Wyoming will provide, year-long elementary group support through TCSD’s “After the Bell” program, where students will practice foundational math skills while playing games after school. Elevate Math Wyoming will also host two sessions of elementary math intensives for eligible students to either engage in student-led, project based enrichment and acceleration, or to provide additional, targeted intervention in grade-based standards and core concepts prior to launching into middle school.
Elevate Math Wyoming will distribute research-based educational resources and support materials to local math tutors, educators, other non-profits and parents. These materials facilitate the use of multi-sensory math techniques to make learning math more accessible and FUN. Community mentorship will also be foundational to our work at all levels.
Elevate Math Wyoming will offer all programming free of cost and use a weighted lottery process to prioritize students with the highest needs.

A 1984 study still widely cited today demonstrated that 1-on-1 tutoring instruction can generate learning gains of approximately two standard deviations when compared to regular classroom instruction.
The University of Chicago’s Education Lab reported that in-school tutoring programs in Chicago and Georgia improved math scores by about two-thirds of a year’s worth of learning.
The data.
The 2023/2024 WY-TOPP (Wyoming Test of Proficiency and Progress) math proficiency scores for the Teton County School District demonstrate a clear correlation between underserved populations and non proficient math scores across all grade levels.
Furthermore, less than 50% of the general student population scored proficient/advanced in math at the 6th and 9th grade levels.
2023/2024 TCSD Math proficiency scores ranked against other comparable Wyoming school districts indicate the entire TSCD student population is underperforming at several grade levels, especially 6th grade.
In 2023/2024, 32.5% of the student population at Teton County School District (TCSD) were hispanic, 26.1% came from low-income families, and 16.3% were active English Language learners.
The underserved population at TCSD represents a significant cohort of students who are underperforming in math and are least likely to afford private math support services. These students are also not on track to meet interim and 15-year performance goals at the middle and high school levels.
