ALL SYSTEMS GOOctober was a busy month for Elevate Math Wyoming as our organization launched 3 free math programs for Teton County public school students! Read on to learn more. Jackson Elementary School’s “After the Bell” Elevate Math Wyoming’s free Math Practice and Number Sense Development pilot program at Jackson Elementary School’s “After the Bell” launched on October 8th. 14 community volunteers are currently supporting 28 slots for this program, where K-3 elementary students practice foundational math facts and extend their number sense development through fun activities and games. This week, we are playing “Making 10 Go Fish” and variations on Yahtzee to practice the core math concepts of “friends of 10”, multi-digit addition, counting and ordering, and for some kids - multiplication. We warmed up with Nim and Salute - if you haven’t heard of these games, look them up because they are student favorites! This program received a large registration response and has a waitlist. Individual Tutoring Elevate Math Wyoming is thrilled to have matched 7 elementary students and 1 AP Calculus student (supported through a private sponsorship) with dedicated tutors for free math support this year. Accepted to the program through TCSD recommendation and a weighted lottery process, these students are eligible to receive one hour of free support for 28 weeks during the 2025/26 school year! Elevate Math Wyoming is applying for grant funding to support middle and high school individual tutoring slots, which would open up in January 2026. JHHS and JHMS In-Class Support Elevate Math Wyoming is working with TCSD teachers and administrators to support mathematical learning at JHHS and JHMS through in class and small group support. We are fortunate to have Vera Donovan and Nicole Mansfield on board to support this program, which is currently assisting high-needs algebra classrooms, Tier 2 algebra support and 6th grade students. Elevate Math Wyoming is excited to have dedicated math mentors working in the schools, where they can build relationships with students, assist teachers and support learning in a flexible manner as needs change.
